Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analytics service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Analytics enables the website operator to analyse the behaviour of website visitors. The website operator thereby receives various usage data, such as page views, dwell time, operating systems used and the origin of the user. This data may be compiled by Google into a profile assigned to the respective end device of the user. No assignment to a specific user ID is carried out.

Furthermore, we can record, among other things, your mouse and scroll movements and clicks with Google Analytics. Google Analytics also uses various modelling approaches to supplement the collected data sets and employs machine-learning technologies in data analysis.

Google Analytics uses technologies that enable the recognition of the user for the purpose of analysing user behaviour (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information collected by Google about your use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

The use of this service is based on your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Data transfer to the USA is based on the EU Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Details can be found here: https://business.safety.google/adscontrollerterms/sccs/.

The company is certified under the “EU-US Data Privacy Framework” (DPF). This means that your IP address is shortened by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with any other data held by Google.

We have concluded a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Google and fully implement the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

6. Newsletter

Newsletter Data

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an email address from you and information which allows us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected or only on a voluntary basis. For the handling of the newsletter, we use newsletter service providers as described below.

Mailchimp

This website uses the services of Mailchimp for sending newsletters. The provider is The Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.

Mailchimp is a service with which, among other things, the sending of newsletters can be organised and analysed. If you enter data for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter (e.g. email address), this data will be stored on Mailchimp’s servers in the USA.

With the help of Mailchimp, we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with Mailchimp, a file contained in the email (so-called web beacon) connects to Mailchimp’s servers in the USA. This makes it possible to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked. Technical information is also collected (e.g. time of retrieval, IP address, browser type and operating system). These data cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. They are used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better tailor future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.

If you do not wish Mailchimp to analyse your data, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. For this purpose, we provide a corresponding link in every newsletter message.

The processing of data is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The lawfulness of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the withdrawal.

The data you have provided to us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe. Data that has been stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected.

Data transfer to the USA is based on the EU Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Details can be found here:
https://mailchimp.com/eu-us-data-transfer-statement/ and
https://mailchimp.com/legal/data-processing-addendum/#Annex_C_-_Standard_Contractual_Clauses.

After you unsubscribe from the newsletter distribution list, your email address may be stored by us or the newsletter service provider in a blacklist insofar as this is necessary to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist will only be used for this purpose and will not be merged with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in complying with legal requirements for newsletter dispatch (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Storage in the blacklist is not time-limited. You may object to this storage insofar as your interests override our legitimate interest.

Further information can be found in Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy:
https://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/.

The company is certified under the “EU-US Data Privacy Framework” (DPF). The DPF is an agreement between the European Union and the United States intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards for data processing in the United States. Every company certified under the DPF undertakes to comply with these data protection standards. Further information can be obtained from the provider at the following link:
https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov/participant/7693.

Data Processing Agreement

We have concluded a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with the above-mentioned service provider. This is a contract required under data protection law which ensures that the provider processes the personal data of our website visitors only in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

Our social media presences

This Privacy Policy applies to the following social media presences

Data processing by social networks

We maintain publicly accessible profiles in social networks. The individual social networks we use are listed below.

Social networks such as Facebook, X etc. can usually comprehensively analyse your user behaviour when you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (e.g. like buttons or advertising banners). Visiting our social media presences triggers numerous data protection-relevant processing operations. In detail:

If you are logged into your social media account and visit our social media presence, the operator of the social media portal can assign this visit to your user account. Your personal data may, however, also be collected even if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media portal. In this case, data collection is carried out, for example, via cookies that are stored on your end device or by recording your IP address.

With the help of the data collected in this way, the operators of the social media portals can create user profiles in which your preferences and interests are stored. In this way, interest-based advertising can be displayed to you inside and outside the respective social media presence. If you have an account with the respective social network, interest-based advertising can be displayed on all devices on which you are or were logged in.

Please also note that we are not able to track all processing operations on the social media portals. Depending on the provider, further processing operations may therefore be carried out by the operators of the social media portals. Details can be found in the terms of use and privacy policies of the respective social media portals.

Legal basis

Our social media presences are intended to ensure the most comprehensive possible presence on the internet. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The analytics processes initiated by the social networks may be based on different legal bases which are to be indicated by the operators of the social networks (e.g. consent within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Controller and assertion of rights

If you visit one of our social media presences (e.g. Facebook), we are jointly responsible with the operator of the social media platform for the data processing operations triggered by this visit. You may assert your rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and complaint) in principle both against us and against the operator of the respective social media portal (e.g. against Facebook).

Please note that, despite the joint responsibility with the social media portal operators, we do not have full influence on the data processing operations of the social media portals. Our options are largely determined by the corporate policy of the respective provider.

Storage period

The data collected directly by us via the social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as you request us to delete it, withdraw your consent to storage or the purpose for data storage no longer applies. Stored cookies remain on your end device until you delete them. Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.

We have no influence on the storage period of your data that is stored for the provider’s own purposes by the operators of the social networks. For details, please contact the operators of the social networks directly (e.g. in their Privacy Policies, see below).

Your rights

You have the right at any time, free of charge, to obtain information about the origin, recipients and purposes of your stored personal data. You also have the right to object, the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. Furthermore, you may request the rectification, blocking, erasure and, under certain circumstances, restriction of the processing of your personal data.
