Briefing

Having already developed the modern 6x1l individual crate of the Schweppes brand, we have now lent a hand to the 24x0.2l individual crate.


In addition to the visual requirements for the individual crate, the stacking image must also function perfectly. At the POS, the individual crates are usually placed on top of each other. This makes the role of the stacking image just as important for the design as the design of the individual crate.

Work

In the case of individual crates that are used for different varieties, good variety recognition must also be ensured. For the product designer, this means integrating windows that are as large as possible into the side parts - but under the condition that the branding can still appear large and clear. Not infrequently an aspect with conflict potential.


The development of individual crates is challenging for a product designer in two respects. The crate design must meet the individual requirements of the brand as well as ensure technical functionality.

Outcome

The solution for the Schweppes 24x0.2l individual crate lies in an interplay between the side openings and the branding. Thus, the windows visually form an expanding frame for the large Schweppes logo, which was placed prominently in the right-hand corner. We also integrated a sweep into the bottom of the windows, creating a link to the Schweppes brand language.


Through the large side openings, the different varieties are now clearly recognisable to the consumer. And in the stacked image, the black individual crates also show consistency, harmony and attention-grabbing power. With the new crate design, Schweppes is positioning itself at the POS as a modern, unique and strong brand.
