Red Deer
Barber Clipper
No. 1

Product concept. Product design.

Briefing

Our client Exonda approached us to develop the form design, packaging design and overall brand identity for a professional hair clipper for barber shops. The product is to be launched as an independently positioned brand under the name "Red Deer".

The objective was to establish a design with a balance between style and functionality that is clearly differentiated from competing products in the overall brand identity.
Craftsmanship, individuality, passion, performance and uniqueness should be reflected in the brand's appearance through the product itself as well as through the packaging design.

Work

When designing the product, it was important to us to keep the design simple in order to focus the product experience on the functional components: such as the lever for adjusting the cutter head or the rotary control in vintage style.

The lever for adjusting the cutting length can be easily converted for right- or left-handers, the zero position can be set individually - so every barber can adapt the device to his or her cutting techniques.

Outcome

In order to convey this individuality with the design language as well, the matt black wings can be replaced, for example, with a reddish brown leather finish or matt black wings with a logo print.

When designing the brand logo, it was also important to us to interpret the tradition of craftsmanship in a modern and contemporary way. The brand logo, in the form of a very memorable and uniquely worded figurative mark, features a rather simple and geometric-looking typography that forms the platform for the splendid stag.
