At the start of the project, RUF faced a key challenge: how can a meaningful purchase incentive be created in the highly competitive baking category – one that genuinely motivates customers to buy more? While the idea of a collect-and-redeem campaign was already in place, what was missing was an emotional, visual, and digital expression capable of engaging both families and passionate home bakers. Our task was to create an incentive campaign that felt less like a promotion and more like an experience. One that sparks the desire to collect.
To bring this vision to life, we developed a distinctive brand world derived organically from the RUF brand and enriched with emotional appeal: the RUF Bear Family. These characters became the narrative heart of the campaign, each with a clear personality, iconic visual design, and unique motivational role. The result is a gamified experience that fosters emotional connection and strengthens the urge to collect.
In close collaboration with RUF, we also developed the campaign’s entire collection mechanic – from the points system and reward tiers to its seamless integration with the product portfolio. Different product categories provide different ways to earn bear points, creating a scalable system that strengthens the existing range while remaining flexible for future extensions.
To create genuine desire rather than simply drive participation, we carefully crafted the bears’ visual style, character design, poses, and activities to express distinct personalities. The result was more than a promotional mechanic: it became a long-lasting design asset within the RUF brand universe, capable of extending far beyond the campaign itself.
The campaign’s central touchpoint is its digital experience: a dedicated website that brings together the visual identity, animations, and interactive elements of the concept. The user experience is designed to make collecting intuitive and engaging, featuring a personal login area, points tracking, progress indicators, and clear visibility of which bear can be unlocked next. Seamlessly connected to the RUF online shop, the platform links purchase incentives directly with the collection mechanic, creating a cohesive and rewarding customer journey.
The impact is clear: the RUF Bear Family creates emotional connections, increases digital visibility, and drives meaningful purchase intent. By making the collection journey transparent and the rewards tangible, the user experience significantly boosts both engagement and brand affinity. The result is a distinctive and memorable brand asset that strengthens recognition across the entire RUF universe.
